Maybe he's somebody whose nickname referred to a heart? Richard the Lionheart is the first to come to mind, but no, that doesn't feel right. There'd be at lease one reference to the lion part if this person truly were him. But maybe he's thinking too directly, and all those things are just a hint for something else...
