Well, yes, wishful thinking is a thing Jack can engage in sometimes. Mostly it's forceful optimism, though. He's aware things are probably terrible, but he prefers to think of them in a better light.

"I don't know if they're people," he corrects. "But I would prefer to be cautious. Just in case they are. Sometimes monsters are not what you think. Or even what they think!"
