I had done some experimenting prior, and it appears the Husks are like pupae that contain individual monsters. So, I suppose something coaxed them out of their shells...

It almost makes me regret not annihilating them all before they hatched, but with their current numbers, I doubt I would have been able to wipe them all out in one fell swoop.
