For the first time, Serph's gaze grows distant. Where they had come from had once seemed so obvious -- he had seen the Sea of Milk, the slurry of incomplete humans, and even he had felt a little ill seeing the exact process in which they were made -- but now... it is all very unclear. What were they? He had given Cielo a clear, confident answer, but... what had happened 5 years ago? The dread with no answers gnaws at the back of his mind just as much as his Atma's ever present hunger.
The others had looked to him for answers, direction, but truthfully he doesn't know any more than they did what it means to live.
Serph isn't exactly the most expressive of people in words or body language but his next question is a little quieter than usual, as though he dares not fully voice it for fear -- Is he afraid? That there may not have been any point? -- of what answers may bring.]
