A teenaged girl in a sports-grade swimsuit sits up from the summoning circle and scowls. She scowls darkly. "Not again," she says out loud, albeit mostly to herself, and picks herself up. "Ed?"
No answer. Ugh.
At least her backpack is here, so she can wrap up in her towel rather than stand around with a bunch of strangers in her one-piece. She could get dressed, sure, her jeans and t-shirt are still in said backpack, but that would require getting dressed in front of that bunch of strangers.
"Okay, where is this?" she asks the nearest person, still scowling fiercely.
II. Driving Without a License
The keys in her backpack are not to her parents' car. They're to a big, boatlike Oldsmobile outside, which looks a little rusty but which still turns on when she turns the key. She runs her hands over the steering wheel.
"I don't actually know how to drive," she comments to anyone who happens to be nearby. "I've only done it once and that was offroading in a truck. That was... really not the same thing."
At least she's put on a few inches since then. She can see over the dashboard without stretching.
III. Flight
After weathering the storm inside the garage, thank you very much, Jolie is not stupid, she pokes her head outside once it has dispursed and picks up one of the fallen feathers, mostly because she's curious what in the world it is.
She starts drifting upward off the ground the moment she picks it up. "Whoah," she says, hovering about a foot up, staring down with wide eyes.
She may be a practical and serious fourteen year old, but she's still fourteen, and before long she's swooping around, arms out like Superman, hovering in mid-air with hr legs crossed and arm propped on her head, or "walking" upside down. She has no idea why this is happening, but it's very cool.
