Nian pulls herself away from the machine to come help pull the bird off Akihiko, by literally grabbing it by a wing and hurling it off him. Then she pulls a bright red sword out of nowhere and stabs it through the middle.

Then it's back to the machines. "Maybe we can direct the energy into the sky?" she yells over the sound of the wind and the whirring machines, crouching down by the one she'd pulled the siding off of. "Zap some birds with it? I wish I could find the originium circuit, that would make this so much easier!"
