[Impossible to tell whether it was the warning or some other instinct that had SecUnit turning before Maggie's even finished the first word, but the creature appears too fast, ghosting into range with limbs extending wide. One arm half-raised as it turned, SecUnit didn't have a chance to fire the embedded weapon before the knife sprouted out of the collection of features that could only in the broadest definition be called a face.
It doesn't make a sound - the stranger or the monster - but reaches up to yank the knife out of the Unknown's face by the handle. There's no braggadocious holding the line, here - as soon as the knife is in hand it's bolting after the woman, booted feet echoing against the torn-up floor of the hospital as it follows her. There's another sound behind them, fainter and more... squishy, of something plopping down from the ceiling, some organic things moving after them.]
