Hi everyone! By request, we are posting the monster CR meme! One of our players noted we’ve got a lot of monsters with pack or similar instincts and mental changes, and it seems like a good time to start working on those. And if you would like to plan for other changes, that is just fine as well.

This meme is for RP planning centered around monster changes, be they physical, mental, or behavioral! Feel free to comment, plot, and plan all sorts of monster shenanigans!

Sephiroth | Final Fantasy Vii | Chimera

Character: Sephiroth
Monster: Drakonis - Chimera
Current Traits: So far, just sharp teeth and claws capable of cutting through metal as permanent traits. I plan on also keeping current event Chimera's Obligate Carnivore/bloodthirst and Blood Frenzy cuz they complement each other nicely.
Upcoming Traits: Current vague plans:

1. Monster Form (horrible birdlizard)
2. Protean Form
3. Pride/Apex Mentality
4. Fire Breath
5. Feral Instincts

RP Plans/Desired CR: Plans: He is not okay with ANY of this!!! My broad intentions are to have a primary monster form he can become, and most other physical traits FAIRLY subdued (for now) in base normal state. And leaning hard into the psychological ones for a while. I'm intending to play around with the pride/pack mentality and feral instincts a lot to influence his decision-making. As it is, Sephiroth is not prone to socializing, practically anti-gregarious and really would be happier locked in a library somewhere with a nice stack of books. Therefore, drive him up the wall with instincts and impulses that are basically the exact opposite! I'm also planning on making those impulses much harder to control when in monster form, to annoy him further. Vaguely intending to make the ENTIRE CONVOY be seen as His Territory, and everyone in it part of his pack, for station-jostling purposes. He's going to be very resistant to the desire to eat things as rare and struggling as possible, and the longer he ignores it the more likely it is he'll lose his grip on what his target actually is.

SEEKING: People to hassle. 'Friends' or actual friends to inflict pride/pack/flock impulses on, or have dominance scuffles with; he's used to hierarchies already but isn't super intent on fighting for top spot as The Leader comes with RESPONSIBILITIES. However said jumbled instincts will still demand whoever IS at the top spot is worthy of it, so someone he may occasionally ... 'test' for fitness would also be nice. People to coax him into going with his diet changes, instead of risking hauling off and trying to eat a fellow trucker when sufficiently starving. People tolerant of being aggressively chinrubbed on and headbutted by a very large predator of dubious control. Or hunted by the same.

Other: Look at these fluffy bastards, this is the inspiration for planned monster form, to be drawn eventually. I figured out how to MOSTLY get one finally; his primary species are lions, Komodo dragons, and a birdish monster specific to his world, levikrons. (with dashes of rattlesnakes and harris hawks) At some point I intend to draw this so I can lock in the differences, like lil tail rattle and lion ears and lion teeth and a bit of a mane..

Jack has no desire to fight you for dominance or otherwise, bro. But I do want more CR with them! He will totally handle all the talking if need be. He is a chatterbox.

Also, werewolf, which may have some understanding of Sephiroth's changes.

You don't go around just mauling everyone in your path! Only the ones who challenge your perceived place! Jack does not give off the sort of vibes that say "I'm here to fight you for your position" at least. I feel like werewolves might have a good understanding of jockeying around in a pack too.

Lmao it's like your comment was made to summon Serph. Serph would be more than okay with scuffles for dominance and for helping with diet changes (when they involve eating monsters, anyway...)! It'll be painfully familiar :')

At least Sephiroth doesn't have to eat sapient things. Anything raw and wiggling will do quite well, it's just.. that's... so gross. :< and uncivilized. and inhuman.

Everyone goes for raptors, which ARE awesome, but what about the one who's science name translates to "beautiful feathered tyrant". How can I not!

If Zack already knows his place there's no need to fight him over it at least. Good group cohesion! A stable pack is a happy pack.

it is truly perfect.

as long as he's not getting pushed around, he's a team player. although that does give me a terrible idea, if sephiroth is open to some casual friendly sparring to keep in shape (which is also potential for sephiroth to like unconsciously test him for that pack ranking business)?

i can see zack having an unexpectedly bad reaction at a crucial moment, remembering sephiroth actually trying to kill him. which could be interesting for their cr development since zack is pretty much just settling calmly into denial, at the moment.

I am immediately and completely interested. His fire breath hasn't come in yet, could always change that for an appropriately on fire setting.

Zack's a logical choice to practice on with, since also First. Sideways testing for proof of that claim.

Especially since I think by the end of Crisis Core, Zack's more than a match for Genesis and Angeal. Who needed all the alien dna, this kid did it through sheer backwater expert! Also I'm thinking I can make use of Sephiroth's .. apparently dim grasp on where the line is between 'friendly spar' and 'obliterating the junon canon'. Other people might notice something is awry and put an end to it before things escalate, he might decide Zack's just putting more effort into it for a better scuffle.

We'll need to find Zack a serviceable weapon Masamune can't just cut in half.

yes to all of this!! i'm so ready for him to have a terrible time. and i think looping in potential bystanders makes sense, too.

well, zack's upgraded from just junk to junk-sword, so that's slightly better.

Sounds good to me. No reason for anyone to be alarmed at first, it's just a friendly spar. :D though will intervention be on zack's behalf or sephiroth's..

honestly it might be a toss-up lmao. sephiroth thinks it's a fun challenge and zack is having flashbacks to nearly dying, nobody is going to be pulling the release cord safely on this one.

Until he realizes it's serious, Sephiroth will be having a great time! Do you know how hard it is to find someone to scuffle with that actually provides a good workout???

I'll spend some time trying to think of ways to make it easier on Zack to have a terrible time and or think history is repeating. Do we want to wait til next month's event or take advantage of the fact nobody will care if we incinerate a whole lot of thorny plants?
