Hi everyone! By request, we are posting the monster CR meme! One of our players noted we’ve got a lot of monsters with pack or similar instincts and mental changes, and it seems like a good time to start working on those. And if you would like to plan for other changes, that is just fine as well.

This meme is for RP planning centered around monster changes, be they physical, mental, or behavioral! Feel free to comment, plot, and plan all sorts of monster shenanigans!

Character: Vincent Valentine
Monster: Vampire
Current Traits: At the end of the April Event, 'Weakness to sunlight. Strength and powers are greatly diminished.' becomes active.

Upcoming Traits:

Sharp Teeth and claws. Capable of cutting through bone.
Urge to drink blood.
Regenerates from drinking blood, can heal from injuries.
Ice magic, can form and shape ice, typically into razor and cutting shapes.
Mist-form. Can become intangible and capable of phasing through solid surfaces up to five feet thick.

RP Plans/Desired CR: Quiet friendships, teaching people. Vincent knows A Lot About Guns and can train, repair and probably modify. He will be keeping an eye out for people that can fabricate and be willing to work with obtaining salvage that will allow a workshop to be set up (if it's not already, looking at people like you Donatello, Jayce!). Vincent will be willing to teach if he's approach but like a somewhat feral cat, he might shy away from too much/ make sure the basics are hammered in etc. And if people want to learn gun for the WRONG REASONS (that he determines by his own standards) he will refuse. So lots of CR there. Because of the April event he stockpiled a lot of guns so he can be a go-to for that. If he feels someone is not suited to the weapon (as in, there would be weapons better suited for them) he will refuse to help. (But also feel free to chat about ideas/alternate solutions if this is a thing you want).

Once the blood drinking kicks in, he wills be unhappy about it. But he's willing to attempt to master it or adapt to it but will focus on animals. Of course animals might not always be available so at some point he's going to have to confront the need. I don't have plans to have the trait of being; he's been working at mastery of his other shapeshifting stuff too long. That doesn't mean some mental effect from a moon warp might not apply it some time. It'll be good to have people (some have already approached this) to talk to. He's in a unique situation here. Rather than being mostly along and dealing with what he's going through, here's a whole bunch of people going through largely the same thing.

If you're wondering about ice magic, well. I thought it would be interesting to make a sort of storm/icecaller type. I was thinking about the movie, Dracula Untold where the lad conjures up a bunch of clouds to block out the sun.

...No, not THAT cloud. But also I admit I giggled anyway. Wait.

Character: Blake Belladonna
Monster: Undead (vampire)
Current Traits:

🐈‍⬛ sharp fangs
🐈‍⬛ mist form (just recently gained this month!)

And I plan to add a couple of ice elemental traits on top of that, once she's gained all of her vampire traits, so also:

🐈‍⬛ elemental residue, leaving ice on whatever she touches
🐈‍⬛ uncontrollable elemental surge when emotional

RP Plans/Desired CR: Last month, Blake's hunger for blood went absolutely berserk, resulting in her losing her mind and attacking a bunch of people. This month, she's working hard on self control by way of feeding on monsters and nearby animals, and gradually apologizing to everyone she harmed.

Her campervan has become a bit of a gathering ground due to the fact that a) it's now very recognizable due to having a sexy mural on it, and b) Blake has scavenged a lot of early 2000's nu metal and goth rock and has attracted an emo crowd. If you too would like to be part of the emo music crowd, please make sure you have the appropriate goth clothing and brooding temperament!

I'm always down for more action threads, because Blake largely focuses on protecting people during events with monster attacks.

Also, I'd love some more fellow undead CR! Blake is currently mired in guilt about her hunger and how it's forcing her to hurt things, so commiseration over that would definitely be interesting.

Other:

Character: Sephiroth
Monster: Drakonis - Chimera
Current Traits: So far, just sharp teeth and claws capable of cutting through metal as permanent traits. I plan on also keeping current event Chimera's Obligate Carnivore/bloodthirst and Blood Frenzy cuz they complement each other nicely.
Upcoming Traits: Current vague plans:

1. Monster Form (horrible birdlizard)
2. Protean Form
3. Pride/Apex Mentality
4. Fire Breath
5. Feral Instincts

RP Plans/Desired CR: Plans: He is not okay with ANY of this!!! My broad intentions are to have a primary monster form he can become, and most other physical traits FAIRLY subdued (for now) in base normal state. And leaning hard into the psychological ones for a while. I'm intending to play around with the pride/pack mentality and feral instincts a lot to influence his decision-making. As it is, Sephiroth is not prone to socializing, practically anti-gregarious and really would be happier locked in a library somewhere with a nice stack of books. Therefore, drive him up the wall with instincts and impulses that are basically the exact opposite! I'm also planning on making those impulses much harder to control when in monster form, to annoy him further. Vaguely intending to make the ENTIRE CONVOY be seen as His Territory, and everyone in it part of his pack, for station-jostling purposes. He's going to be very resistant to the desire to eat things as rare and struggling as possible, and the longer he ignores it the more likely it is he'll lose his grip on what his target actually is.

SEEKING: People to hassle. 'Friends' or actual friends to inflict pride/pack/flock impulses on, or have dominance scuffles with; he's used to hierarchies already but isn't super intent on fighting for top spot as The Leader comes with RESPONSIBILITIES. However said jumbled instincts will still demand whoever IS at the top spot is worthy of it, so someone he may occasionally ... 'test' for fitness would also be nice. People to coax him into going with his diet changes, instead of risking hauling off and trying to eat a fellow trucker when sufficiently starving. People tolerant of being aggressively chinrubbed on and headbutted by a very large predator of dubious control. Or hunted by the same.

Other: Look at these fluffy bastards, this is the inspiration for planned monster form, to be drawn eventually. I figured out how to MOSTLY get one finally; his primary species are lions, Komodo dragons, and a birdish monster specific to his world, levikrons. (with dashes of rattlesnakes and harris hawks) At some point I intend to draw this so I can lock in the differences, like lil tail rattle and lion ears and lion teeth and a bit of a mane..

We still need to talk Vampire Shop. :D

Character: Natsuhi Ushiromiya
Monster: Kitsune
Current Traits:
-Ears growing into fox ears (atm, they've grown but only have a little bit of fur near her hairline)
-one tail
-Also fully fox form that she's not good at controlling.
-some white hairs, she doesn't realise those are changes though...
Upcoming Traits: What upcoming traits are you planning to activate?
-second tail, I'm going to have her tail split from the tip and have her freaking out because what's wrong with it!???

RP Plans/Desired CR:
-Someone to watch her freakout at the body horror of her teeth and claws growing in and pushing her human ones out of the way.
-Maybe someone getting trapped in an illusion by accident.

-Learning to drive? Natsuhi is taking advantage of the autopilot but wanting to learn so there's not a repeat of the chomehound hiding in her SUV.
-Probably moping over feeling useless and being a weird monster lady ;-;

Character: Goro Akechi
Monster: Chimera
Current Traits:

• Crow-like talons on his hands that can tear through metal, with black, scaled skin like a crow's legs, usually covered by his sleeves. Sharp teeth that can also tear through metal.

• Black feathers covering his face, arms, and torso. The feathers are hard and durable like armor. Also has spines growing down his back.

• BEEG CROW WINGS, which he can use to fly, combined with the harpy ability to manipulate wind.

• Large, hooked horns that curve forward, black with thin, white stripes.

• Fire breath, though he's still getting the hang of it. Sometimes when he gets angry, smoke comes out of his mouth/nostrils.

Upcoming Traits:

• More animal features! Those who saw him in the first Moon Warp may remember how he grew a snout ending with a hooked, beak-like tip. He's also set to develop white tiger-like hind legs and feline ears, giving him a griffin-like appearance, and a tail... either dragon-like or scorpion.

• A full on monster form he can shift and out of, which takes the traits of his base form, but in a bigger, quadrupedal form, possibly with a longer neck to add to the beast factor.

RP Plans/Desired CR: Open to a lot of things! One of Akechi's curiosities with monster transformations is what they mean and what determines the monsters they become. He'd love to swap notes, gather more information on how different changes affect different Drifters, and the discrepancies even between the same monster "type."

He's already pretty monstrous, and when I start giving him more changes (e.g. legs), it'll feed into some existing complexes, like how his form is shifting to match how much of a monster he sees himself as, but also this unease about if the few people he cares about would even recognize him. He's not very open with his vulnerabilities, and I think Serph has made the most progress on that front, or Faith, but while he seems to be taking his changes with a certain nonchalance, there's more going on.

He had a REALLY close call with Knives recently, and it's probably gonna drive him to pushing himself further and trying to take full advantage of his monster form to ensure history doesn't repeat himself. I'm open to people picking up on his overexertion, between his investigating and in combat.

Akechi is bad at taking care of himself. ...He's also gonna have a tough time fitting into his bed in the convoy, between his wings and future tail. He may need roomies in one of the larger rooms soon...

Levi is also very about guns, so I feel if he sees Vincent messing with or scavanging guns he'd be interested. he also pockets all ammo he comes across but would be willing to share!

he's also done some teaching about guns in previous games so if Vincent starts doing that i'd be interested in possibly them teaming up.

Current Traits:
Dog ears, nose and pads on his hands and feet
Fangs/sharp teeth and claws that can tear through bone
Red eyes (w/black sclera) that glow in the dark
Heightened senses (hearing/smell/night vision)
Bone growths on body (sternum and spinal plates)
Two alternate forms: Big, black german shepherd with red eyes and dog-hybrid form (with more boney bits)

Hatred of Angels and bright light. Repelled by bright lights or holy symbols.

Upcoming Traits: probably going to give him a tail soon. He'll have problems controlling its emotional response to things so that should be fun!
Also I want to give him fire powers and maybe wings eventually but that's a bit down the line. Probably something like pack link way down the line.

RP Plans/Desired CR: No plans right now but I would love all CR. That loyalty compulsion and general doggy traits will have him growing more protective of all his positive CR so kind of what to play with that. Eventually it might even make him more sociable!

Character: Paladin Danse
Monster: Werewolf
Current Traits:

☽ Razor-sharp fangs, which have grown in fully by the end of the month. He's still learning to talk around them so he doesn't sound like Sean Connery, which will probably take him a couple more weeks or so.
☽ Voracious Appetite chimera trait just for this month, but once he has his hybrid form, it will become a permanent werewolf trait for him.

Upcoming Traits:

☽ Fur coat, black, growing in as an extension of his existing body hair. This is just a gradual thing that he thinks he can keep on top of, so feel free to run into him sulking in the bathroom or something while he shaves his beard for the third time that day.
☽ Wolf tail and ears, also black-furred
☽ Pack link, able to convey brief thoughts/feelings/sensations to those seen as pack. By default this is going to include everyone else from his own world, but I love the idea of him unconsciously adopting others that he develops close CR with or feels he has a lot in common with.
☽ Additional wolf-human hybrid form, doubled in height and mass. I envision something similar to a worgen, but with a tail.
☽ Voracious appetite after transformations.

RP Plans/Desired CR:

Danse is a character who naturally lends himself to initial negative CR, because he's brusque and stern and still brainwashed by an authoritarian military cult, but beyond that surface level he's deeply lonely and eager to make friends. If given a chance, it will not take him that long to soften up. He's basically a suit of armor filled with marshmallow goo.

I'd considered giving him the "pack mentality" trait that would have him sorting other people into hierarchical roles and interacting with them accordingly, and then realized I didn't need to waste a trait slot on that because he already does enough of it on his own. So if other people have that going on as part of their transformations, and would like to mess around with that and figure out where he falls on their idea of the pecking order, I'm down for it! He's a big tough guy who's very accustomed to being in charge, but he doesn't mind being bossed around by people he's come to trust, so it can really go either way depending on how he gets along with someone otherwise.

Since the bulk of his character arc is about coming to terms with not being human, I would love to keep collecting other android/robot/synth/etc types and having him talk to them about it. For him, the trauma of "oh god I'm becoming an animal" is almost secondary to the trauma of "oh god I've been a machine all along," and I'm very eager to play with the contrast between the two ways in which he's losing the semblance of humanity he wants to hold onto. I feel like with the right influence, he might even be willing to embrace some of the werewolf changes, because they're as far from machine-like as it gets--but I have no idea, and it's possible as well that he might go the other direction with it and come to see the good in being a synth instead. He's a fairly impressionable person and I think it's going to depend a lot on who he gets close to.

I don't know exactly where I'm going with this now, but--come hang out with a sad robot wolf, anyway. He needs a hug.

Other:

Yeah definitely! And with the current scene we're doing, that's definitely part of the stuff Vincent's collecting. So he'll definitely get that vibe. Well, also his only obvious weapon IS a gun.

Vincent is also pocketing ammo but in a handwavy sort of way for their thread I'm sure there'd be some trading of specific caliber for main weapons. Like TCG! XD

Having another person willing to do help with gun teaching would probably be accepted in a grateful sort of way. Vincent is not great with social things and even if Levi is ALSO not great with it at least they can tag team things. I'll be doing a TL somewhere bringing it up so please look out for that!

Levi is not at all good with social stuff, but i head canon he's taught recruits to shoot before so he can do that less awkwardly than just talking to people normally

I do not have a robot I can offer but I do have a genetically engineered weapon who lives and breathes military hierarchy and may find Danse's brusqueness comfortably familiar.

Monster: undead (draugr)— here's his ref!
Current Traits:

• eyes shift blue when emotional.
• various internals clearly exposed with no ill effects.
• deer features.
• urge to drink blood, eat living flesh, or otherwise consume life-essence.
• regenerate from drinking blood/eating flesh/consuming energy, can heal from injuries.

Upcoming Traits:

• feeding frenzy: can easily be overwhelmed with hunger and a need to eat above all else.
• cold caller, can summon cold weather and heavy clouds in the form of snow storms or freezing rain.

technically, i've been playing around with these new traits only recently (april event) so they are fairly new! and some of which i haven't actually played with in full, so i'd love to test them out and bring them to light! after the unicorn temp, he's going full on zombie deer and will have all of his draugr traits activated.

RP Plans/Desired CR: jayce is going to go back into rune studying next month after taking a break from it this month post experiment Gone Wrong, but one thing he's taken up in the mean time that i'd like for him to get further into is the little workshop/forge he's building at the back of his pick up! jayce is a scientist and engineer at heart and will probably take repairs/projects to keep himself busy. currently he's trying to balance his cannibalism and mental health without spiraling, with serph being his vore godfather. by draugr lore i've also made him quite protective of the convoy and its drifters since the raid so that might me an easy reason for them to interact— he'll probably check up on people frequently, even if he's pretty quiet/gruff/kind of awkward about it. i'm open to all sorts of cr, whether that be friendship, adult cr, kid cr, negative spats, the works!!! the only thing i'm declining is romance, jayce is taken there!
Other: the irony of doing a nercomancy only to become the necromancy

Current Traits:
Plant speech: Can gain basic information on an area by speaking to vegetation
Plant magic: Growth, changing, or withering of plantlife
Invitation requirement: Must be specifically invited into a personal cabin or car
Oath compulsion: Cannot betray a promise
Inhuman features: After her first moon warp, her eyes turn gold, skin starts turning green-streaked
Super jump/reflexes: She can leap far distances and dodge more easily

RP Plans/Desired CR: She absolutely needs to learn how to fight. I'd love to keep throwing her at other teenagers, but she needs some good adults, too.

Character: Jack Russell
Monster: Yokai (kitsune)
Current Traits:
Multiple tails sprouted after his first werewolf form, total of six.
Swift reflexes when attacked, improving his ability to dodge attacks
White streaks in his blue-gray hair
Spirit marble which takes energy from or gives energy to a person when they kiss (he doesn't know about this one yet)
Illusion magic to create both audible and visible illusions, though not solid
Storm restlessness/storm form will feed on his natural restless nature as well as his werewolf form. He will become sheepdog-sized fox with six tails and phantom fire in his eyes, trailing from his tails, and left in his footsteps.
Phantom fire magic which can produce ghostly flames to illuminate area or shield a person. These flames do not generate heat or burn, but can become true fire with effort.
Prehensile tail lingering from the naga changes of March, transforming one of his six fox tails (1/6)
Fox ears in place of his human ears, flexible and sensitive, albeit not very big compared to a red fox

Upcoming Traits: The Yokai traits are set in stone, but the other traits are still iffy.

RP Plans/Desired CR: Jack is already a werewolf so the fox thing is completely separate from that! I would love for him to be able to use his experience to help others with their transformations, particularly were-creature ones.

Other: Aiming for ethereal and fluffy with his various changes, as well as things which will help keep him alive while still allowing him to be his pacifist self.

I feel like Jolie has not had much exposure to nu metal or emo. But she wears a skull on her t-shirt and fixed some metal studs and chains to her denim jacket in canon, at age thirteen? (She is fourteen now)

Also she is turning into a fae hunter tree-person so biting through the bark might give her some protection from vampire fangs once it grows in :B

Jack has no desire to fight you for dominance or otherwise, bro. But I do want more CR with them! He will totally handle all the talking if need be. He is a chatterbox.

Also, werewolf, which may have some understanding of Sephiroth's changes.

Hi I still definitely need to throw my two at him :D Jack brushes off rudeness so long as nobody actually tells him to leave, and Jolie still has that "my best friend is an AI" thing going on.

Character: Kaidan Alenko
Monster: Lightning Genasi

Current Traits:
🔵 Command of lightning, can shape it, turn it into weapons, etcetera
🔵 Absorb element for regeneration and healing, boost powers, or recover energy
🔵 Can meld into element for defense, fast movement, or a power boost
🔵 Excitable, euphoric, or agitated when near main element
🔵 Compelled to seek out and bask in main element
🔵 Aura of elemental color, can cast limited light and color, about the same as a candle

Upcoming Traits:
🔵 Eyes glow with elemental powers
🔵 Element shift, specifically turning his right leg into lightning because of this

RP Plans/Desired CR: I really, really, really want people who'll help him learn it's okay to ask for help. His #1 fear is being a burden, so he has a tendency to take on too much and put others before himself (self care, for him? ha!). Fresh off a galactic war and without cast mates to remind him it's okay to take it easy, Kaidan's reverting to old habits—that of giving 110% towards his duty to protect others. Which is stressing him out, which makes his powers harder to control and gives him migraines.

Also anyone who wants a decent meal or wants to help with a community kitchen. He's so concerned about the state of nutrition in this place. ~~And he enjoys food too much to make lightning his nutritional staple.~~

Other: Aiming for less and less human, which is a trigger because he was treated like a freak due to his biotics, so...

Character: Serph
Monster: Celestial (Angel). He looks like this!
Current Traits:

6 feathered wings
One extra eye on his forehead
Iridescent and glowing hair (after this month's moon warp)
Glowing eyes (after this month's moon warp)
Feathers growing along body
Cleansing and healing magic
Dream-weaver: ability to link dreams with friends and the like in order to share memories, experiences, or share dreams and nightmares (needs player permission)

Upcoming Traits:

Commanding voice: can issue an order that someone must follow (needs player permission)
Hatred of demons (great when he's canonically a demon!)
Affinity for song, and improved singing voice (lol)

RP Plans/Desired CR: The big thing is that he's got that lovely Dream-weaver trait! That means people he's friends with (not difficult, even for antagonistic characters) can share memories/dreams/nightmares with him and vice versa. So if there's anything your character tends to hide and you'd like someone to know... ;) Similarly, if there's something your character wants to know about Serph (demon cannibal AI that comes from a messed up world with a lot of similarities to Revan who's currently got grief and messed up memories on the mind) or you just wanna do a dreamshare and we figure out what would be of interest, we can do that too!

Other: He is regrettably very okay with eating people/monsters, so if you need someone to encourage your character to give in to their blood/monster eating desires, he is your guy!!

Lmao it's like your comment was made to summon Serph. Serph would be more than okay with scuffles for dominance and for helping with diet changes (when they involve eating monsters, anyway...)! It'll be painfully familiar :')

They've talked a bit about monsterisation but Serph probably would hit up Vincent for something from his stockpile; Serph's guns always seem to have a habit of getting lost whenever he travels to a new world and he's been without one for months now!

Monster: Dullahan (Undead variant)
Current Traits:

Emaciated Form (She looks corpsey and has a mangled neck. Notably, she wears scarves now.)
Aversion/weakness to Gold (Please give me an excuse to inflict this on her, I beg you)
Urge/hunger to absorb life energy (She doesn't know what this is, it's just been nagging at her, see Grave Touch)
Sunlight power loss (Applies to everything after this point):
Grave Touch (Absorbs life energy. She's not clear on this/how it works)
Regeneration (Fuelled by life energy)

Upcoming Traits: What upcoming traits are you planning to activate?

HEAD FALL OFF. This happened during the February Moon Warp but she's avoided it ever since. Like her other powers, it will only be a thing at night. (The associated neck wound will and has persisted since it first showed up at the end of the April warp)

RP Plans/Desired CR:

I've definitely been enjoying just throwing her around and enjoying how the vibes are vibing (She does not vibe with the vibes, sad to say.) However, some stuff I definitely wouldn't mind in her life:

More heroic rescues
Her backsliding into self-destructive/self-sacrificial habits
Her going apeshit, possibly fuelled by that neglected hunger for life energy she hasn't yet identified
Really, anything that makes her feel more like a monster.
Or anything that makes her feel more like she's worthy and good.
Bonus points for poking her in her fear of being second-best

Okay well the car is not going to do him any favors in the "Faith teasing him" department but she's decided he's cool people anyway so there will be zero teasing and 100% helping if he starts to have issues with the vampire thirst thing.
